JM Associates is the production company for the Spanish Fly... That's kind of like saying that Michael Jordan is a guy who plays basketball.

JM has been around since the 1980's when they produced the first outdoors show ever on ESPN. That show was "the Fishing Hole with Jerry McKinnis".

Jerry McKinnis is in fact the leader of the band of JM Associates and he is fondly known as "the Hammer". Jerry without a doubt is the most innovative and farsighted person I know. He has assembled an incredible and talented group of cameramen, editors, and producers that makes the machine of JM Associates. They are responsible not only for Spanish Fly, but stuff like STIHL Timbersports Series, Citgo Bass Master Tournament Trail, The Redfish Cup and others too numerous to mention.

These folks eat, live and breathe outdoor programming and it is humbling to see them when they are in "full on mode". I have gotten a chance to be behind the scenes at some of these events and it is nothing short of amazing to see six cameramen going each in a different direction and on a different boat at 5 AM. Then they get back to the dock at 3PM to turn over what they shot to the editors and producers in the mobile production unit. Next, the editors have to pound through miles of tape to get something cut by 6PM! To do this with any degree of success, it takes a tremendous team effort from people who are hard working, dedicated and creative.
