color at his craft. The background is what
you see from the porch at the lodge at Xingu

Tim Schick, Greg Goodwin and myself on a riverboat
on one of the tributaries of the Rio Negro,
Brazil. We went to see some the villages of
the river people. This is where a 70 year
old indigenous native taught me that I cannot
climb a skinny palm tree and that tarantulas
are cool to put on your body and let them
crawl all over you. Unfortunately, Tim and
Greg did a good job of filming the "not
climbing" palm tree part (my biggest
embarrassment). Tragically, they only got
a few frames of the tarantula crawling over
my face and neck.( my biggest achievement)
...sigh...
