Welcome to the 2012 season of Spanish Fly, Vida del Mar and other assorted saltwater goodies!  As many of you know, we have recently moved to a new network.  You can now see HD episodes airing four times weekly on the Outdoor Channel.

Jose Wejebe travels to Venice, Louisiana and teams up with friend Rimmer Covington and the Mexican Gulf Fishing Company in an offshore excursion to fish oil platforms and structure right near ground zero of the Horizon Oil spill showing that the fishing is better than ever after last year's accident. First up, sebiki rigs for live bait, and then hold on for giant predator fish crushing baits. Once again Plaquemines Parish, Louisiana proves to be one of the best fishing destinations in the world.

What do you do in tough economic times when you want to go fishing but don't have the means to get in a big center console boat? Downsize everything... including your boat, and fish in your own backyard. Host Jose Wejebe visits friend Derek Redwine at his house in Merritt Island with the goal of finding any kind of small fishing craft to catch fish around Merritt Island, Florida. The dramatic ending on the fly with Jose out of the boat is a Spanish Fly moment...

In Part 1 of 2, we find It's not always what it's cracked up to be, as host Jose Wejebe and friend/guide Stevie Impallomeni attest in this episode of the Spanish Fly. Impallomeni is a Keys native who grew up fishing the waters of the Keys. The beautiful waters of the Florida Keys is the setting as the anglers show exactly how a guide dissects bodies of waters to catch fish for their clients.

This week on the Spanish Fly, Part 2 of 2 of what it takes to be a fishing guide... and a fishing guide in the wonderful waters of the Florida Keys. Key West is again the setting as host Jose Wejebe joins friend/guide Bryan ‘Bear' Holeman to scour the waters of the Keys to catch sharks, permit and tarpon. Holeman is a Keys ‘import' guide and sets the plan to catch live bait to catch multiple species... and the plan works.

If you ask Spanish Fly host Jose Wejebe where is the best inshore saltwater fishing in the world, there'd be one quick response: Plaquemines Parish, Louisiana and the surrounding Mississippi Delta. First you take the most storied river in the United States, then take all the fresh water that drains 2/3 of the country, then you dump into one of the healthiest estuaries in the world. This week Wejebe joins Capt. Chris Wilson as they adventure into the Delta in pursuit of redfish to prove that neither a hurricane or an oil spill can slow down one of the best fisheries in the world.

You hear it all the time: "take a kid fishing." But until you do and see how those memories and lessons grow over time you might not understand how important it is. This week on the Spanish Fly, host Jose Wejebe takes his daughter Krissy fishing in Key West, Florida and both explain the ironic bonds they've shared over the years. Krissy, now working with marine animals at the Keys' Dolphin Research Center is following a similar career path Jose took as a young man (training dolphins.) Meanwhile, a day on the water in the Keys after weeks of bad weather prove both frustrating and very rewarding through the old adage: get bait, catch fish.
