Jose Wejebe and crew received an invitation to visit the US Naval Base on Guantanamo Bay, Cuba and spend a little time with our troops. Jose was invited to host a fishing derby and go on a fence-line tour with the marines.

On the Atlantic side of the key chain, in the deep waters of the Gulf Stream, oceanic free swimming (pelagic) species roam over a pretty featureless ocean. In these areas bait congregates around almost any flotsam. When fishing for some of the pelagic, filling the bait well could be the most important part of your day. While only a small percentage of the bait is actually used on the hook, the majority is used in a technique called live bait chumming. The idea being if you could setup your boat as a natural feeding station, you can attract life up the food chain.

Kiteboarding is a new water-sport that incorporates elements of windsurfing and wakeboarding. Basically a rider uses a kite and the power of the wind to propel themselves across the water on a board similar to a wakeboard. I had been taking lessons for a while with an organization called the Kitehouse out of Key West.

After I picked myself up off the ground, we talked through some ideas. Jose made it clear he really just wanted us to do what we do.

This was very special to us because he wasn't asking us to be a fishing guide, captain, or expert on the river...he was just asking us to be a family and show him how we like to explore the outdoors and pass on our passion on to our child.

The Madfin Shark Tournament created quite a buzz last year and recently we got done filming the 2nd season complete with helicopter aerial, boat and underwater cameras. Madfin is an all release tournament where basically the sharks try to bite you and you have to treat them nice as you release them!

Getting closer now, wings are done and in a separate area to be attached later. Landing gear is on and controls in. Now the plane gets painted before it goes to the avionics department where the instruments for navigation and engine functions get put into the panel.

Some pictures from Crooked Island, Flying into the southeastern portion of the Bahamas for some grouper fishing. While we were there a drug run gone bad ended with 3 guys stranded on Bird Rock, a little rock hump just off Crooked Island with only a defunked light house on it and nothing else.

Jose Wejebe begins the process of building a new turbo prop experimental airplane with the folks at Comp Air. The kit airplane is built with composite materials much like a boat and you put it together with the help the builder assist program. It is powered by a 680hp Walters Turbine engine.

We did a redfish shoot in February, 2007 out of Slidell, Louisiana where we fished with a guide named Gary Taylor targeting redfish on fly and spin.. Gary has a pretty cool gig where he has a 32' ft Louisiana Skiff, which is a true Louisiana Bayou boat. Gary built a ramp-like trailer into the back of the Louisiana Bayo boat where he winches up and lauches his smaller Hell's Bay skiff. Great time redfishng on fly and spin!

I have never been a fan of the hype of triple engines boats, until I rode in that same boat and was really impressed with the performance, balance and speed of the whole rig.

Reel Life Adventures is a group of guys who go into an impoverished area and take on various humanitarian projects. In this case we joined them in the Dominican Republic to provide aid, supplies and labor to help the Dominican and Haitian orphans and impoverished people of Puerto Plata. It was nothing short of an incredible trip and we received far more than we gave.
