"Live Bait Chumming" - Key West, Fl
On the Atlantic side of the key chain, in the deep waters of the Gulf Stream, oceanic free swimming (pelagic) species roam over a pretty featureless ocean. In these areas bait congregates around almost any flotsam. When fishing for some of the pelagic, filling the bait well could be the most important part of your day. While only a small percentage of the bait is actually used on the hook, the majority is used in a technique called live bait chumming. The idea being if you could setup your boat as a natural feeding station, you can attract life up the food chain.
Rigging a Fly Rod - Start to Finish
Using Power Pro Hollow Ace Braid for backing these days, so I like to wrap a layer of electrical tape on the core of the fly reel. Since the line is so "slippery" the tape gives the braid something to "grab" on to.

Manaus is situated at the confluence of the Negro and Solimões rivers and has a population of about 2 million people. While manaus was simply a jump point for our trip to the Rio Travessao, we were able to spend a little time checking out the local fish market

Good Friends and Fishing Memories
by Christian Goodpaster

As the Action-Craft skiff begins to come on plane across the greenish tinted water, I am thankful I have been blessed for another day of life. Urban Nature, Banana River Florida
My name is Derek Redwine. After many years of being friends with Jose Wejebe, he recently asked me if my family and I would be interested in doing a fishing show with him. After I picked myself up off the ground, we talked through some ideas. Jose made it clear he really just wanted us to do what we do.

This was very special to us because he wasn't asking us to be a fishing guide, captain, or expert on the river...he was just asking us to be a family and show him how we like to explore the outdoors and pass on our passion on to our child.

Butterfly Fishing Key West
We went out today just with the intent to locate some new bottom for fishing and maybe do a little underwater filming. The Shimano group is in town so Rush Maltz (a Key West Captain and friend) and I took out Dave Pfieffer, Pat Smith, Jeff and Bryan out to some remote places and started looking for fish

Deep jigging with Shimano Butterfly Jigs
Deep jigging has always been a very productive way of catching fish all up and down the water column. Traditionally most of that has been done with a large heavy bucktail or nylon jig. The jig is dropped to the bottom and then retrieved to the surface.
Celebration of Life for Jose Wejebe
The fishing community has lost a great angler, icon, and friend. We are deeply saddened by the untimely passing of Jose Wejebe. Through his show and his adventures he shared a passion for fishing that touched and inspired anglers around the world.

Bait Balls And Dredges
In the deep Southern Gulf of Mexico, huge schools of baitfish gather and with them come the predators that feed on them. When fishing this kind of situation, the only way to attract the sailfish away from the bait pods is to offer them something equally tempting. The dredge is a device that’s trolled behind the boat that looks like a school of bait!

Vertical Jigging for Bottom Fish
When we're fishing for bottom fish such as grouper and snapper using a technique known as vertical jigging or deep jigging, we find the addition of a scented plastic tail to the bucktail jig makes all the difference in the world.  Adding scent and bulk to the lure increases the bottom fish catch while vertical jigging.
