"Live Bait Chumming" - Key West, Fl
On the Atlantic side of the key chain, in the deep waters of the Gulf Stream, oceanic free swimming (pelagic) species roam over a pretty featureless ocean. In these areas bait congregates around almost any flotsam. When fishing for some of the pelagic, filling the bait well could be the most important part of your day. While only a small percentage of the bait is actually used on the hook, the majority is used in a technique called live bait chumming. The idea being if you could setup your boat as a natural feeding station, you can attract life up the food chain.
Rigging a Fly Rod - Start to Finish
Using Power Pro Hollow Ace Braid for backing these days, so I like to wrap a layer of electrical tape on the core of the fly reel. Since the line is so "slippery" the tape gives the braid something to "grab" on to.
Mustad™ Ringed Hooks Versus Standard Hooks
There are some major advantages to the ringed hooks over fishing with standard eyed hooks. Foremost is that when fishing with live bait, especially smaller or more fragile baits like many of the baits you guys fish in the Keys like Pilchards and such, the line attaching to the ring allows the ring and hook eye to act as a pivot point as the bait swims.
Amazon Jungle Fishing
A trip into the Brazilian Amazon typically starts off in Manaus, the capital of the Amazonas state. Manaus is situated at the confluence of the Negro and Solimões rivers and has a population of about 2 million people. While manaus was simply a jump point for our trip to the Rio Travessao, we were able to spend a little time checking out the local fish market
Louisiana Redfishing with the Holeman Brothers
The best fishing trips sometimes come when you least expect them. I recently heard from a friend about a place tucked away in the Louisiana marsh where the "hot" redfish action would make you glad it wasn't summer. This redfisherman's haven, called Hopedale, was not only home to HUGE redfish during these winter months, but also to a couple of die-hard fishing guides, Travis and Bryan "Bear" Holeman. AKA... The Holeman Brothers!
Key West Wahoo & Sharks

In Key West, what happens when you mix blood and guts, wahoo and sharks, in the wintertime? Well, down here, we go swimming!

This is the time of year that we spend a fair amount of time close to the edge of the reef just off Key West. Most of the inshore water is cold, but the warm offshore waters of the Gulf Stream move in closer.

Last year we went on an extended expedition to the Indian Ocean to fish the untouched atolls of the southeastern-most Seychelles Islands. On our way to the Seychelles, we had stopped in Johannesburg South Africa to gather our gear and prepare for the next leg of our "journey". It was there that our friends and hosts, Dean Riphagen and Tom Lewin, owners of Frontier Fly Fishing, introduced us to Rob Wyndham who oversees the Game Preserve called Sabi Sabi.

What do Kiteboarding and the Bahamas have in common?
Kiteboarding is a new water-sport that incorporates elements of windsurfing and wakeboarding. Basically a rider uses a kite and the power of the wind to propel themselves across the water on a board similar to a wakeboard. I had been taking lessons for a while with an organization called the Kitehouse out of Key West.
Urban Nature, Banana River Florida
My name is Derek Redwine. After many years of being friends with Jose Wejebe, he recently asked me if my family and I would be interested in doing a fishing show with him. After I picked myself up off the ground, we talked through some ideas. Jose made it clear he really just wanted us to do what we do.

This was very special to us because he wasn't asking us to be a fishing guide, captain, or expert on the river...he was just asking us to be a family and show him how we like to explore the outdoors and pass on our passion on to our child.

Plane is done and Flying!
After years of hard work and testing, the plane is finally done and has been put to the test. The goal was to build a plane that could fly far, fast, and heavy. It comes from a kit plane manufacturer known as Compair and you build it together with a company known as Composite Technologies. We built it from the ground up with exploration, filming and fishing in mind.

Gary built a ramp-like trailer into the back of the Louisiana Bayo boat where he winches up and lauches his smaller Hell's Bay skiff. Great time redfishng on fly and spin!

Journey to the Galapagos
This year while shooting the shows, the crew and I departed on what would be a trip of a life time to the remote islands of the Galapagos. The Galapagos are an archipelago of volcanic islands situated near the equator about 1000Km off the coast of Ecuador. These geologically young islands are best known for their pristine natural environment and vast number of endemic species which led to the inception of Charles Darwin's theory of evolution. The islands and their surrounding waters have been protected as a national park and marine sanctuary since the 1960s in an effort to maintain their pristine natural condition.
